Doggett's Coat and
Badge is a four-floor pub on the southern end of
Blackfriars Bridge. We will be using the two bars and function
room on the top two floors of the pub. This includes the
Terrace
Bar with its rather wonderful view overlooking the
Thames.
Doggett's is very visible from anywhere on Blackfriars Bridge and its name is prominently displayed, so it's easy to find. The address is 1, Blackfriars Bridge, London, SE1 9UD. It is within easy walking distance of Blackfriars and Southwark tube stations, and on the Thames Path that runs along the South Bank. The 45, 63, and 100 buses stop right outside the venue; see bus routes to Blackfriars (PDF). A map is at the bottom of the page.
All floors of the venue are connected by a lift; there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor. Some of the workshop rooms have a single step from lift level; these steps will have ramps fitted, and Polyday helpers can help wheelchair users overcome that step.
If you have a disability or other access need (eg mobility issue, sensory impairment, mental health need, learning disability/difficulty) please get in touch as early as possible; we may be able to do something to improve your access, and if for example the lift isn't working on the day we can call you and let you know. If you are coming to Polyday with your own support/personal assistant/carer you will not be expected to pay for them to attend to support you.
We're not organising accommodation as part of Polyday. There are St Christopher's Inns in Camden and London Bridge, which offer very cheap dormitory accommodation, though you have to book both Friday and Saturday. But if you want to make a weekend of it and you can get together people to share with you, it's a good choice.
Alternatively, the Jesmond Dene Hotel in King's Cross has twin rooms from £45 a night or four- and five-bed rooms from £95, and is a good budget hotel.
